Beef Lasagne

Try making lasagne the slow cooker way and you'll discover an effortless version of a classic meal, which tastes just as good!

Ingredients
  • 225g fresh lasagne sheets
  • 25g butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped finely
  • 1 large clove garlic, crushed
  • 550g mince
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 60ml tomato purée or paste

For the cheese sauce:

  • 25g butter
  • 25g flour
  • 300ml milk
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 100g grated cheese
  • Parmesan cheese

Method (Serves 4)

  1. Preheat the slow cooker on HIGH for 20 minutes, and then grease the inside of the slow cooker.
  2. Heat the butter in a large pan and sauté the onion and garlic until transparent. Add the mince and oregano and cook for a further 3 - 4 minutes, stirring well. Season with salt and pepper and add the tomato purée.
  3. To make the cheese sauce, heat the butter in a pan and stir in the flour. Add the milk gradually, stirring well.
  4. Bring slowly to the boil, still stirring. Season with salt and pepper, add the cheese and stir until melted through. Remove from heat.
  5. Layer the mince, pasta, and cheese sauce in the slow cooker, finishing with a layer of cheese sauce. Sprinkle Parmesan on top and cook on LOW for 4 - 5 hours, or until cooked.
  6. Serve with garlic bread and garden salad.
